Eddie Howe has had a fair few injuries to contend with this season as Newcastle United have bungled along on this bizarre season.

The Magpies can not seem to put together a run of good form, especially as pesky away fixtures keep breaking up momentum, and the team are unable to win away from home.

While injuries haven't been as big an issue as they were two years ago, the last time Newcastle were involved in the Champions League, they have certainly played a part again this season.

On top of the long-term absence of Yoane Wissa, it has felt like every time Newcastle get a player back from injury, they lose another one.

The debut is coming

We'll get the bad news out of the way first

That has been the case again lately when Lewis Hall and Tino Livramento returned from injury, only for Kieran Trippier to pull up injured.

Now Craig Hope has revealed in his Newcastle Confidential column that the 35-year-old is expected to be out for around four weeks with his latest knock.

Eddie Howe is cautious about rushing Livramento and Hall back into the starting lineup too quickly, but this latest setback for Trippier is leaving him little choice.

And now for some good news

In better news, though, Hope has confirmed that Yoane Wissa has finally trained on the grass with his new teammates for the first time.

Wissa was involved in a full training session on Wednesday, which suggests that his debut may not be too far away now, finally.

Yoane Wissa picked up a bad knee injury on international duty just days after signing for Newcastle and hasn't been able to fully train since. He's probably still got some work to do before he'll be in contention for a place in the squad, but at least that day is getting ever closer.
