Ally McCoist and Jeff Stelling are two of TalkSPORT's most palatable presenters and the duo have laid out their Premier League prediction on air today.

Jeff Stelling made a point at the start to say that this was not his idea and the TalkSPORT producers pushed him into it, as he's aware of how much potential there is to upset fanbases up and down the country, but being the trooper he is, he did press on.

Meanwhile, Ally McCoist, the legend that he is, halted proceedings to wish Alan Shearer a happy birthday before they continued.

The pair started off by revealing their predictions for who will lift the Premier League title with neither opting for Manchester City nor did they agree on the winner with McCoist going for Arsenal and Stelling choosing Liverpool.

McCoist isn't sure Newcastle will crack the top four

Talk then switched to predicting their top four which saw them both choose the same top three - Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City in a different order but they disagreed wildly on fourth spot.

McCoist handed fourth to Manchester United while our man Jeff gave it to Newcastle. That's not to say that McCoist didn't throw Newcastle a bone.

"I think there'll be an improvement from Newcastle. I'm really looking forward to seeing Newcastle again but I'm not sure they will break into the top four."

Stelling has backed Newcastle for the Champions League

Stelling, however, does think Newcastle will make it into those Champions League places.

"For me, Newcastle had a lot of injuries last season. But this season if they stay relatively injury-free, they do not have Champions League to cope with this time. They're trying to strengthen at the back with [Marc] Guehi. I'm gonna go with Newcastle for fourth place."

We agree with Stelling purely based on the fact that we don't have Champions League as a distraction and surely we can't have the same horrific luck with injuries two seasons in a row.

If we get the Marc Guehi deal done and a right winger in, there'll be nothing stopping us from getting top four, potentially even third. If we don't get a winger we probably will still nick top four, but only just.
