Jamie Redknapp was left purring over 'complete' Newcastle United player on Saturday
Newcastle United put in the type of performance that we've come to expect from an Eddie Howe side on Saturday as they rose to the occasion to beat Manchester City 2-1 at St James' Park.
Two goals from Harvey Barnes were enough to seal the win for Newcastle after Ruben Dias equalised just minutes after Barnes' opener.
Both sides had some big chances, and how the game was goalless at half time was a mystery to everybody watching, with Barnes missing the most clear chance of the entire game.
But the winger kept his head held high and continued to plug away, getting his reward in the end with both goals set up by Captain Fantastic, Bruno Guimaraes.
Jamie Redknapp and Eddie Howe sang Bruno Giumaraes' praises at full-time on Saturday
Bruno and Barnes combined brilliantly for the first goal, and it was Bruno's header onto the bar that fell to Barnes to tuck away for the winner and after the game, Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp couldn't help but coo over Bruno to Eddie Howe.
"There's a lovely balance in there of energy, skill and endeavour and a goal threat in there obviously, but one player in particular, Guimaraes, I can't think of a more complete midfield player in the Premier League right now. He's a joy to watch, his enthusiasm and drive is so good to see."
Eddie Howe obviously didn't disagree with Redknapp saying how it's a pleasure to work with Bruno every day.
"I'd echo that, Jamie. I think he's an outstanding player and I have the beauty of working with him every day and seeing what he's like as a person as well.
"He's a brilliant leader, a really inspirational figure, a very positive person.
An Eddie Howe statue in Newcastle?
Redknapp was in a very complimentary mood on Sky Sports last night, going on to say that Eddie Howe is going to have a statue in Newcastle someday.
It's not often we get high praise from Jamie Redknapp, so we'll certainly take it when we get it.
Although surely nobody could have watched that game on Saturday night and had anything negative to say about our lads. Even the Mackems have opted to stay quiet this week.
