Jacob Ramsey to haunt his old club? - Newcastle United team news to face Aston Villa in FA Cup fourth round
Newcastle United are looking to book their place in Monday's draw for the fifth round of the FA Cup this afternoon, but to do so, they will need to see off Aston Villa on their own turf. Kick-off is at 5:45pm, and it's live on BBC1 and TNT Sport.
In order to progress, Newcastle will have to do something today that they've not done since 2022, and that's win without the aid of Bruno Guimaraes, who, it was confirmed last night, is going to be missing for up to 10 weeks.
Even more worrying for fans is that the lads are playing in their green kit today, which, like oranges in The Godfather, often heralds bad news.
Eddie Howe has put out a decent-looking side, albeit without their good luck charm in midfield and with a few twists we didn't see coming.
Jacob Ramsey to score a worldie and celebrate like a madman at the Holte End. Please
One of the big stories is that Jacob Ramsey returns to face his old club for the first time since his £40 million move in the summer, fresh off the back of scoring his first goal for Newcastle on Tuesday. Let's hope he can do it again tonight, and let's see if his celebrations are as passionate this time.
Equally eye-catching, though, is the inclusion of Will Osula in the starting lineup, and the question over where he'll be playing. Is he going to be up top with Nick Woltemade behind him? It or is he being brought back into the midfield alongside Sandro Tonali and Jacob Ramsey?
Our guess is that we will line up with a 4-2-3-1 with Will Osula the furthest forward. But who knows, Eddie Howe likes to spring a surprise or two.
Eddie Howe has opted to rotate his squad ... now that there's hardly anyone left to rotate
Injuries have taken us back to the two-goalkeeper-on-the-bench days, which are always fun to see.
Korean youngster Park Seung-soo, who impressed with his appearances in pre-season, gets a spot on the bench tonight along with Sean Neave and Leo Shahar, but we doubt we'll see any of those three called upon at any stage.
WE're surprised to see the Anthonys on the bench. Both Anthony Gordon and Anthony Elanga played well on Tuesday night and probably deserved to keep their place, but it seems Howe has finally started to rotate his squad. Better late than never, I guess.
HOWAY EDDIE HOWE'S ROTATED MAGS!
