Jacob Murphy has capped off an amazing season for Newcastle United by recently getting married, putting a nice fine point on the end of a fantastic 12 months.

Along with Dan Burn, Murphy is high up in the running for Newcastle's player of the season after scoring 12 goals and adding 15 assists in 44 games and developing an almost telepathic relationship with Alexander Isak along the way.

Only Mo Salah for Liverpool amassed more goal contributions than Murphinho last season, and that's likely why Murphy picked Salah as the best winger in the world right now in a quick-fire interview for GOAL on X.

When Murphy was asked about other positions, he found space for two of his Newcastle United teammates in his list.

Jacob Murphy named Alexander Isak as the best striker in the world

It's probably no surprise that he picked Alexander Isak for striker, given that the general consensus in football is that Isak is one of, if not the best striker in the world right now, but also, when you add that telepathic link between the two, of course he's going to pick his striker partner.

However, it was Jacob Murphy's choice for best left-back that may raise a few eyebrows.

Murphy named Tino Livramento as the best left-back in the world. Tino certainly showed last night while playing for England U21S that he thoroughly deserves to be in the mix, but it's also worth pointing out that Tino is, in fact, a right-back by trade.

Tino Livramento could keep his best mate out of the Newcastle side now

When Lewis Hall's season ended early in March, Eddie Howe switched Livramento to left-back and deployed Kieran Trippier on the right. Most people would have expected him to keep Tino right and drop Tripps on the left, given that the veteran defender has played at left-back for England on several occasions.

It didn't take long to realise that Howe had called it right with Tino taking to he role like a duck to water. He actually seems better at crossing with his left foot than his favoured right, too, adding more assists to his game since playing on the opposite flank.

Not many Newcastle fans will disagree with Jacob Murphy on naming Tino, although we do feel bad for Lewis Hall, who was certainly gunning for that title before his injury. We just wonder if Tino will return to the right or keep his bestie out of the side going forward.
