Newcastle United didn't do much business in the summer transfer window and now one of the players who did join has already been the subject of bids from elsewhere.

Lloyd Kelly reunited with Eddie Howe after his Bournemouth contract expired and he opted to join Newcastle.

The 26-year-old is yet to make a positive impact on Tyneside with only a handful of appearances, none of which have done much to convince fans of his talents.

Eddie Howe remains confident that Kelly has what it takes, however, and still sees him as a valuable member of the squad.

Lloyd Kelly has been the subject of a lot of transfer speculation

Eddie Howe wasn't happy with Fenerbahce going public with their interest in Lloyd Kelly

However, with Fenerbahce publicly speaking about holding talks with Kelly and then bids from Juventus, Howe was asked in his press conference on Friday morning if Kelly would be leaving Newcastle this month.

"I think it's a slightly different situation with Lloyd. I've seen a little bit of the speculation on Lloyd. We've certainly not had any bid anywhere close to making the club make a decision on that.

"Lloyd's an integral part of what we're doing from my perspective. His challenge is to try and work his way into the team. He's only just arrived, so I think he's got a lot to achieve here. So, it's a very different situation.

"I think whenever your players are talked about by other clubs, I don't think that's ideal [on Fenerbahce going public]. And certainly, I try not to do that myself regarding players contracted to other clubs as well."

There's time for Eddie Howe to work his magic on Lloyd Kelly

It probably is too soon to pull the trigger and sell Lloyd Kelly for a fee below what the club value him at, as much as we'd have snapped their hands off at the first offer.

We know how good Eddie Howe is at improving players and there's still plenty of time for him to get the best out of Kelly.

Still, with PSR being what it is, can we really be turning our noses up at any kind of profit?
