Injury update on Jacob Ramsey after hamstring injury kept midfielder out of Newcastle United squad last night
Jacob Ramsey's name was nowhere to be seen on the teamsheet last night as the team news was announced ahead of Newcastle United's Champions League clash with Qarabag.
The former Aston Villa midfielder has been enjoying a good run in the team of late, and his performances have been getting better with each outing.
However, when he wasn't named in the squad at all last night, it was a cause for concern.
As Jon Champion read the team news out on Amazon Prime Video prior to kick-off, he mentioned that Ramsey had a tight hamstring and wasn't going to be risked.
Eddie Howe believes Jacob Ramsey will be fit to be involved against Everton
Eddie Howe confirmed in his post-match press conference that it was a hamstring injury and gave a positive update on Ramsey's situation when asked if he'd be okay for Saturday's game against Everton.
“We hope so. He just felt his hamstring, and was aware of a tightness in his hamstring.
“He had a scan and it came back all clear. So we’re hopeful there’ll be a quick improvement and he’ll be back involved, hopefully for our next game. But let’s wait and see.”
Eddie Howe's midfield selection for Saturday looks simple
With Lewis Miley still missing and Nick Woltemade looking completely lost last night, the last thing we need right now is another midfielder joining Bruno Guimaraes on the treatment table at this point in the season.
Joelinton looked excellent last night, as did Sandro Tonali, which is encouraging that we have players able to step up when Bruno isn't available.
Joe Willock failed to impress again last night when he came on, so the midfield three kind of picks itself on Saturday, provided Ramsey is passed fit.
