Injury update: Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe gives update on several missing players ahead of Wolves clash
Newcastle United are in Premier League action on Sunday in a 2 pm kick-off live on Sky Sports, down at Molineux as they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Eddie Howe has several players unavailable after picking up one injury per game in the last three outings, to add to the roster of players already missing.
However, there is light at the end of the tunnel for a couple of absentees that should certainly help to ease the burden.
Newcastle are also contemplating a foray into the transfer market this month to beef up the squad, which will certainly go down well with fans who feel something needs to change sooner rather than later, as the side seems to be missing a spark this season.
Fabian Schar will be out for three months after undergoing surgery
Fabian Schar posted an update from his London Hospital bed yesterday after coming through surgery on his ankle, and Eddie Howe has confirmed that he will be missing for around three months while he recovers.
During his press conference on Friday morning, Howe gave an update on Tino Livramento, who is perhaps going to be the biggest miss while he recovers from his latest setback.
"A lot of frustration for Tino because the injuries have come out of the blue, there's been no reason for them necessarily. He's very willing and athletic, and puts a lot of energy into each performance. I'm desperately disappointed for him and for us because he's such an important player."
Dan Burn is back in full training
Howe also reiterated that the scans on Jacob Murphy's hamstring keep coming back clear, but admits that there's definitely something amiss and that he is probably set for a spell on the sidelines too.
But it wasn't all bad news as Howe confirmed that Dan Burn and Will Osula are both close to a return, but of course, both will need to be managed properly.
"Will (Osula) will hopefully be training imminently. Dan (Burn) is improving; he's running, which is a really good thing. His fitness will be OK; that won't be an issue, it'll just be managing the pain of his injury. He looks in good shape, it's just the top-end pain when he's fully sprinting, so hopefully not long."
