Newcastle United made three wins in a row in the Champions League on Wednesday night, seeing off Athletic Club Bilbao 2-0 under the lights at St James' Park.

That's nine points out of 12 for the Magpies, who retain their place in the top eight of the league, which would see them automatically qualify for the knockout stages of the competition without the need for the play-offs.

If ever there was a goal worthy of the occasion of a Champions League night, it was Dan Burn's 11th-minute opener for the Toon last night.

Burn scored a magnificent headed goal in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley in March this year, which had people talking for days, but this one was even better.

Eddie Howe's coaches are taking credit for Dan Burn's goal

Kieran Trippier floated in a free-kick to the far side of the box, where Dan Burn had peeled off his marker to head the ball back across goal, somehow putting tons of swerve on it, and it curled in at the far post.

Speaking after the game, Eddie Howe labelled it an 'incredible' goal, and we'd be hard pressed to find a better word for it.

“In terms of a technical header that was incredible. It was very reminiscent of the cup final.

“It was an incredible header from distance and he’s arrowed it into the top corner.

“Yes it was a training ground move. Well done to all the coaches involved with that.

“We need to score more from set plays, so that was really positive for us.”

It was a goal of such high quality that it belonged in an entirely different game, as it was by far the highlight of the match.

We loved seeing Burn caught on camera on the bench late in the game, recreating the goal for his teammates.

Seriously, though, how do you bend a header?
