'I'm now here': Newcastle United winger sends message to new supporters after January move confirmed by club
The January transfer window doesn't actually open until tomorrow, but Newcastle United have jumped the gun to get one deal done.
After a disastrous first half to the season in Belgium, summer signing Antonio Cordero has had his loan with KVC Westerlo terminated early.
The Spanish wonderkid played less than 120 minutes of football in just eight outings for Westerlo, none of which were as a starter for the Belgian side.
Newcastle were obviously far from happy with this amount of game time for their young winger and recalled him from his loan early.
Newcastle United have confirmed that Antonio Cordero will join Cadiz CF for the remainder of the season
It was a poorly kept secret that Cordero would be heading back to the Spanish second division with Cadiz CF, and now Newcastle United have confirmed the move, with Cordero also sending a message via Instagram to the Cadiz fans.
“Cadiz fans, I’m now here, I can’t wait to feel your support in the stadium and represent this club. Come on, The Yellows”
Fingers crossed, Cadiz are more inclined to give Antonito the game time he needs to develop.
It's a return home for Antonio Cordero
Despite coming through the ranks at Malaga, Cordero actually hails from the Cadiz area of Spain, so this is a return home of sorts for the Spaniard.
Newcastle have high hopes for Cordero after signing the 19-year-old on a free transfer in the summer, beating the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona to his signature.
Things haven't always gone according to plan with players in our academy, but it feels like if we get this one right, we could have a future superstar on our hands.
