It's FA Cup weekend and Newcastle United host fellow Premier League side Brighton at St James' Park on Sunday with a 1:45pm kick-off live on ITV.

A place in the FA Cup quarter final is on the line as Newcastle chase a possible domestic cup double, but Brighton will prove to be the Magpies' biggest test in the competition so far this season.

Form-wise, Brighton have the edge as they are on a four-match winning streak, whereas Newcastle were defeated by Liverpool last night.

However, it's a cup competition, and that's where Newcastle thrive under Eddie Howe. You know, if you ignore Cambridge United.

Chris Sutton can't separate the two teams in normal time

Chris Sutton is expecting this one to be settled in extra time according to his prediction for the BBC.

"Alexander Isak missed Newcastle's defeat at Anfield with a groin injury so he has to be a doubt for this tie too, and his absence is a massive blow for Eddie Howe's side.

"Brighton have hit a bit of form since losing 7-0 to Nottingham Forest at the start of February, and have won four in a row in the Premier League and FA Cup.

"The Seagulls also won at St James' Park earlier in the season, when Danny Welbeck got the winner. I remember that one because I got that prediction wrong.

"People are talking about Newcastle being distracted by their upcoming Carabao Cup final against Liverpool [on 16 March] but could they actually be in line for a domestic cup double this season?

"I am banking on them keeping that possibility alive here. They obviously could really do with having Isak back but, even if he is not fit, then surely Brighton can't win there twice this season... can they?

No extra time, please!

Let's hope that Sutton has got the result right, but we could really do without the game going to extra time. It's bad enough that cup runs add games onto the season when you've got a squad as thin as ours, but throwing in extra time might be a step too far.

Hopefully the lads can get the job done in normal time.

Home advantage could be key here again. It worked on Sunday against Nottingham Forest, so let's keep the noise up and carry the lads into the next draw.
