Having featured just twice for Newcastle United, it looks like Karius is hoping to find a new club in the Summer

As third choice keepers go, Loris Karius isn't a bad one to have. The German keeper has featured twice for Newcastle since he joined, and both of those were significant fixtures. He featured against Manchester United in the Carabao Cup Final. Thanks to Pope's suspension and Dubravka having played for Man U that season… his next appearance would come almost a year later, when he featured in the Premier League defeat to Arsenal.

Many fans probably didn't expect Karius to stick around this season, and if he did, many imagined it would be because Dubravka was leaving. But Karius stuck around for another season, though it looks like it will be his last for the club.

Italy calls for Karius

I'd like to have more space, I'd be happy to join an Italian club as a next step.

With his new agency representing him, it looks like Karius will seek pastures a new in the Summer. Italy looks set to be his destination, and he'll likely be hoping for more first team action. At just 30 years of age, Karius still has plenty to offer, though he hasn't played any meaningful football since 2020 when he was on loan at Besiktas.

Time will tell if the memory of that Champions League Final still haunts him, though it's clear to see that Karius is physically a very different player to the one that played for Liverpool.
