Bryan Mbeumo is seen as a 'priority signing' for Newcastle United this summer as the club looks to finally replace Miguel Almiron who left the club in January.

If we're being honest about things, we needed to replace Miggy before he left, as the right-wing has always been a particular weak spot for the Magpies, although we have to doff our cap to Jacob Murphy for seriously upping his game this season.

Still, a right-winger to compete with Jacob Murphy is a massive priority for Eddie Howe this summer, and Bryan Mbeumo is still believed to be top of his wishlist after biding their time since last summer.

It won't be a cheap deal to do with reports suggesting it will take north of £50 million to get Brentford to make a deal, but looking at Mbeumo's form this season for the Bees, he will potentially be worth every penny.

Bryan Mbeumo wants to play the 'biggest games'

Mbeumo has already signalled his desire to move on to find a new challenge, and now, speaking on The Obi One podcast alongside teammate Yoane Wissa, the Cameroonian winger has outlined his desire to play at the top of the game.

“I always want to play the biggest games for the biggest club when I was younger.

“It’s easy to say I want to be there but you need to put a lot of demands on yourself.

“I’ve shown as well what I was capable of. I’m really demanding on myself as well because I know I have the abilities. We never know what can happen.”

Champions League qualification should seal the deal for Newcastle

If, sorry, when Newcastle United qualify for the Champions League at the end of the season, we can point to this interview to convince Mbeumo to join us this summer.

Signing for Newcastle will open up Mbeumo to playing in the Champions League, which is exactly where he wants to be.

There are other clubs looking at Mbeumo, but it is widely reported that Newcastle are the favourites to sign the 25-year-old. Champions League football may just be the final piece of the puzzle to pull this deal off.
