Newcastle United are gearing up for the second of three intimidating away games in a row after facing PSG on Wednesday and Manchester City a week later, with a trip to Liverpool on Saturday night for an 8 pm kick-off live on TNT Sports.

It's a horrendous run of fixtures for the Magpies, especially when taking into account their form away from St James' Park this season and not to mention their seeming inability to win at Anfield and the Etihad Stadium.

However, that's not to say that the Magpies won't give it their all in either game and potentially spring a surprise. They've done it before and they can do it again.

Liverpool are far from invincible this season, so it's the perfect time to break that Anfield duck.

Our instructions are clear

Chris Sutton has backed Liverpool to snatch a win on Saturday

However, Chris Sutton doesn't believe it is Newcastle's time as he's gone the way of the home side with his prediction for the BBC.

"I was in Paris to watch Newcastle for 5 Live on Wednesday. They made loads of changes and started badly but they could have won it in the end.

"They showed a graphic on Match of the Day on Sunday which underlined how important Bruno Guimaraes is to Newcastle, because basically they don't win when he is not playing.

"Eddie Howe did not risk his captain against Paris St-Germain and will be hoping he is fit enough to start at Anfield but, even if he is, I still fancy Liverpool here.

"Liverpool walloped Qarabag in midweek, but one of their issues this season has been following up good wins like that in Europe with a similar result in the league the following weekend.

"I don't really trust Arne Slot's side to turn up this time either but Newcastle's poor away form should help them here - and the Magpies' record at Anfield in the past 30 years is pretty abysmal.

Anything can happen. Believe

Each week, Sutton has a guest he goes up against with predictions and this week was boxer Fran Hennessey who backed a 2-3 Newcastle win, which just goes to show what you can believe when you're not burdened with the knowledge of a club's record.

That's the kind of belief we need. The history doesn't matter, all that matters is that 90 minutes on Saturday. Well, it's at Anfield, so if the score is tied or Newcastle are winning at 90 minutes, we'll find another 10 from somewhere.

A win on Saturday could catapult Newcastle's season back on the right track. But we still need plenty left in the tank for Wednesday to somehow overturn a two-goal deficit at a stadium that has had our number from day one.
