Nobody in recent memory has had a journey like Joelinton at Newcastle United - going from laughing stock nobody wanted anywhere near the starting XI to being one of the first names on the team sheet.
Joelinton played his way into fans' hearts after a forced tactical move by Eddie Howe transformed the Brazilian before our very eyes.
Often deployed as a lone striker, the £40 million signing from Hoffenheim had a goal record as abysmal as Callum Wilson's injury record, but after Ciaran Clark got sent off early on in a game against Norwich, Eddie Howe moved Joelinton back into midfield and a beast was born.
Now regarded as one of the best box-to-box midfielders in the Premier League, Joelinton is one of Newcastle's most beloved players.
Joelinton was interviewed by Sky Sports inside Newcastle's newly renovated club shop and the Brazilian spoke of his love for the club and the city and outlined his main ambitions.
“I love the club, I love the fans, I love the city.
“It’s not always easy, but I always try to give my best every day in training, every day I step on the pitch. I try to give everything I have to make this club succeed.
“That’s still in my mind, I always give my best and, like I said before, I want to win something and put my name in the history of the club forever.”
Newcastle are edging ever close to ending their trophy drought and we hope that Joelinton is part of the side that eventually brings one home.
The Magpies face Brentford in the Carabao Cup quarter finals and then it's just a two-legged semi final and the final to to. We are within touching distance. And of course we're still in the FA Cup, but it would take a miracle to bring home the Premier League trophy this season.
It's coming though, Joey and you will be a part of it.
