The mood around Newcastle United is so good lately that getting players to leave is a huge problem.

Miguel Almiron is adamant he wants to stay at Newcastle despite the club clearly wanting to move him on.

Another player that many fans would maybe have expected to have been shifted on by now is Swedish right-back Emil Krafth.

The 30-year-old has been at Newcastle since 2019 and despite a few extended runs in the team has never really been considered part of the starting XI.

Krafth is working to earn a new deal at Newcastle

Krafth always gives everything to the side when he does play, however, and he is probably heading for cult status.

It seems that the Swede is happy with his role, too and has no desire to leave even though his contract is due to expire next summer. Krafth told The Athletic that he wants to stay at Newcastle.

“I know what I’m capable of. Everyone here is a really good player and everyone wants to be a part of the team this season.

“I want to stay. I love being in Newcastle, being part of the team. I will work as hard as I can to make it happen.”

We are expecting a change to the order at right-back this season with Kieran Trippier potentially demoted to the bench and Tino Livramento handed the starting berth. Bruno Guimaraes can lead the team out in Trippier's absence.

Krafth will likely remain third-choice and it seems that he's absolutely fine with that, and so are we. It took us a while, but we're sold on the former Amiens man.

Krafu is a Geordie!
