We will concede that sometimes bias can massively tilt your view of how you see certain incidents on the pitch, but sometimes, even the most ardent fans have to concede that their team weren't actually hard done by.

It may be a bit different for managers, especially when their job is on the line, which could explain why Nottingham Forest boss Ange Postecoglou reacted the way he did when asked about the incident moments before Newcastle United took the lead on Sunday.

Bruno Guimaraes clearly won the ball back from Morgan Gibbs-White before Dan Burn carried the ball away and fed it back to Bruno to curl it into the top corner.

Moments after Bruno won the ball from the Forest midfielder, the two players' momentum carried them into each other as an inevitable consequence of their speed and trajectory. 'twas simple physics. The fact that Gibbs-White stayed down to try and win a free-kick rather than get up and chase the ball is on him.

Dermot Gallagher was 'astonished' that there was even an appeal

While Ange Postecoglou took aim at the referee for 'not making a decision', Dermot Gallagher rightly said on Sky Sports News' Ref Watch on Monday that there was absolutely nothing in it.

“I'm astonished what the fuss is here, because I just can't see a foul at all. He gets the ball there, clearly gets the ball.

“He did take responsibility, didn't he?

“He said, play on and quite rightly. That's why I say, I was astonished yesterday when people said to me, that's a foul. I just can't see it.

“I can't see it now. I couldn't see it then.”

In no universe was it a foul - Even Jay Bothroyd could see it

Meanwhile, Jay Bothroyd, who isn't immune to a poor take or two, hit the nail on the head as he supported Gallagher's decision.

"I agree with that. Giving fouls for that would be ridiculous! Guimaraes clearly got the ball.

"If there was no goal, it would not be a talking point. It has never been a foul.

"If the shoe was on the other foot, Ange [Postecoglou] would want the goal."
