'I haven't had any contact': Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes says he has not spoken to Alexander Isak
Alexander Isak is still training away from the rest of the Newcastle United first team as the petulant child continues to throw a tantrum in order to get his way.
Despite the intervention by the club's owners, Jamie Reuben and PIF representative and NUFC director, Jacobo Solis, Isak is standing firm with his disruptive stance.
There is now less than a week for this to be resolved before the striker will have to return to Eddie Howe with his tail between his legs and begging to be reintegrated into the first team.
Meanwhile, Newcastle's captain, Bruno Guimaraes, has told ESPN Brazil that he has not spoken to the wantaway striker.
Bruno Guimaraes says he has not spoken to Alexander Isak since he went on strike
Speaking after the Liverpool game, Guimaraes admitted that he and the rest of the squad are missing having Isak around.
"I haven't had any contact with him. We've been training in the mornings, and he trains at a different time, when no one from the team is around.
"As captain, and for us as players, it's a tough situation because we want to have the best players with us. That's something we can't control; the club, the management, the owners are dealing with it, and I hope it gets sorted out in the best way."
"We're really missing our striker, a player who scored more than 20 goals in the Premier League last season, so of course he's someone we feel the absence of. We hope to have our best player back, but unfortunately, this is a situation that neither I nor any other player can control."
Bruno will be taking Isak's behaviour on a personal level
Bruno posted a photo of himself proudly wearing the Newcastle United kit just minutes after Isak had released his controversial statement last week, suggesting to fans that he was clearly not happy with his teammates' actions.
As we saw by his goal celebration on Monday night, there aren't many players who love the club as much as Bruno Guimaraes. Even the local lads who came through the academy don't have the passion for Newcastle United that Bruno has.
It's not hard to imagine that Bruno is hurt by Isak's actions, and he will be taking it personally.
