The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will host Spurs versus Newcastle United tonight, live on TNT Sports at 7:30pm as two Premier League underachievers meet in the 'desperation derby'.

Both sides will be absolutely desperate for a win as Spurs fear being dragged into a relegation battle, while Newcastle continue to slide down the league table like the Banana Splits.

The Champions League has been a blessing and a curse for both of these clubs this season. Their form in that competition has saved their season, but being in it at all has caused havoc with their league form.

It seems the pundits are playing it safe with this one, as Chris Sutton went with a draw, and to be honest, we think it's a safe bet.

Paul Merson is expecting goals. That would be something at least.

Paul Merson can't separate the two sides either, as he's tried to predict the score tonight for Sportskeeda.

"Both Tottenham and Newcastle desperately need a response, don't they? They're not bad teams. But I feel they've both been let down at times by their best players!

"There is no justification for what Cristian Romero did against Manchester United on Saturday. It was ridiculous from him to get sent off. This isn't the first time Romero has let Spurs down and as long as he keeps playing, it won't be the last either.

"If the uncertainty around Sandro Tonali's future was a concern for Newcastle, now they also have to deal with his poor run of form. I also don't understand why his agent had to come out and talk publicly about his client's future in the midst of all this. It just adds more pressure on Tonali.

"This game is a football pundit's nightmare. You can predict one thing and the result could really embarrass you in the end! I can definitely see goals here, but I'm going for a draw.

"Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 2-2 Newcastle United"

We can't be the only ones not looking forward to this game tonight

If Merson thinks the game is a pundit's nightmare, he wants to try being a supporter. Newcastle fans aren't looking forward to this, that much we know, and we'd imagine it's a safe bet that the Spurs fans aren't exactly buzzing to get to the stadium tonight either.

Let's hope the players are more up for it than we are. If they can give us an entertaining game, that would be a good start.

We honestly don't know what to expect tonight, all we do know is that we wish it wasn't happening.
