'I can't change who I am': Eddie Howe shares how long it was before he stopped celebrating and went back to work

Eddie Howe is probably the most focused man at Newcastle United. He absolutely lives and breathes football. His job comes before everything and he readily admits that when speaking during interviews.

Howe's success isn't down to luck or a natural talent. He has worked his socks off to get to where he is now and he shows no signs of slowing down now that he's tasted success with Newcastle's Carabao Cup victory.

Indeed, Howe has already spoken about how it has only spurred him on to want more, and you'd be a madman to bet against him.

We're talking about the man who was sacked by Bournemouth and decided to have a rest but got bored almost instantly so jetted off around Europe to shadow some of the best managers in the game to learn everything he could before getting back into the game.

Eddie Howe was asked how long it was before he got back into work mode

So his answer to the question in this morning's press conference of how long he waited after the cup final win to get back into work mode will surprise nobody.

"Really, honestly, it was the next day. It's just how I'm wired and it's how I'm built, and I tried to sort of have a word with myself and change how I am, but I couldn't - so I was back watching the Liverpool game the next day.

"On my own, analysing the game and going through it for what we need to improve...

"I can't change who I am, so I enjoyed that because it was a good performance and you always enjoy it when you play well, and then it was a case of watching Brentford for the same day and being straight back to work."

Eddie always looks like he just wants to be working

We're sure that he's not a boring man, but we do bet it's hard to get him to talk about anything else other than work.

Howe always looks awkward when people around him are having fun, almost like he's just counting down the minutes until he can get back to his desk.

Each to their own, I suppose, and let's be honest, if he keeps delivering trophies for our beloved club, then he can crack on being a workaholic for as long as he likes.
