Jamaica could be about to lad a very nice family man as their international football manager after Steve Bruce has reportedly held talks over the position.
As far as unpopular figures go on Tyneside, Steve Bruce is right up there after his spell as Newcastle United manager, in fact, so reviled is he, that we will get grief just for writing about him and keeping him 'relevant', but this story was just too good to ignore - from a headline and thumbnail perspective at least.
Newcastle were absolutely woeful under Steve Bruce and the players were so out of shape due to his lack of intensity in training that one session with Eddie Howe had the players puking their guts up.
Famous more for taking holidays than winning games, Bruce has been out of a job since he took Championship promotion favourites West Brom to the brink of relegation.
Newcastle fans were often criticised for speaking out against Steve Bruce and his army of blind followers in the media would often remind us of how he's a nice, family man. That's great, but he's not a good football manager.
He may be good enough for the Jamaican bobsled National side as Transfer Sector has posted on X that Bruce has held talks with Jamaica over managing their international side.
If one of the interview questions was "Can you name 15 current Jamaican players?" we wonder how he did.
How the mighty have fallen though, and it really just goes to show how right we, as fans, were about his abilities as a football manager.
If he was as good as his media buddies would have had us believe then surely he'd be still managing in the Premier League. There has been no shortage of managerial changes and opportunities for him to do so.
If he's successful, at least he can work on his tan while he frantically googles players who are eligible for Jamaica.
