How much of a difference can one man really make? Newcastle United's dismal record without Bruno Guimaraes continues
Since Bruno Guimaraes joined Newcastle United in 2022, the Brazilian has missed just nine Premier League games, which is an extremely impressive stat.
Unfortunately for Newcastle, they never won a single one of those nine games, picking up five draws and now four defeats after today's failure to beat Aston Villa.
That's extremely worrying, no matter how you look at it. Unless you're Bruno's agent, I suppose, as he will know just how important his client is to the club.
What's concerning is that there will come a time when Bruno will move on, and what do we do then? How can we be so reliant on just one man?
Bruno Guimaraes' mere presence on the pitch seems to be enough to transform Newcastle's fortunes
What I find astonishing is how he doesn't even have to have a good game himself; he just has to be on the pitch.
Bruno Guimaraes: The Brazilian security blanket.
Lewis Miley replaced Bruno in the team today and was Newcastle's best player, so it's not as if we don't have the personnel to cover for him when he's absent.
Newcastle United feel like a one-man team
Is it just a coincidence that we've not won when he's not been involved? I mean, nine times would suggest that there's more to it than just dumb luck, but I just can't fathom how one man can make such a difference.
We need to get on the phone to science and tell them to get a move on with an age reversal serum, because he's not immune to the ravages of time.
This is a sickness, along with the toothless attack, that needs to be rectified ASAP. The toothless attack is probably a bit more urgent because that has the potential to ruin our season, but we definitely need to stop relying on Bruno to see us through games. He won't be here forever.
