Last night Newcastle United were handed another away tie against Premier League opposition in the Carabao Cup for a third successive draw.
This season's first opponents will be Nottingham Forest who the Magpies did a bit of PSR jiggery pokery dealing with on 30th June to ensure both clubs went into the new PSR reporting year without the threat of a points deduction.
Nottingham Forest kindly gave Newcastle £35 million in return for hot prospect and crowd favourite, Elliot Anderson, while Newcastle gave a reported £20 million for Odysseas Vlachodimos - baffling.
It'll be interesting to see if Vlachodimos is Eddie Howe's go-to goalkeeper for the Carabao Cup and whether he gets to face off against the club that tossed him aside like yesterday's lettuce so soon after bringing him into the club. Adding insult to injury be replacing him with Toon flop Matz Sels.
Of course, the big attraction will be Elliot Anderson getting a pop at his cold club so early in the season. Something it seems the 21-year-old Geordie is relishing.
Anderson posted a wordless reaction on his Instagram Story consisting of a grinning face and a chef's kiss.
We're sure he'd have loved the tie to have taken place at St James' Park for that extra spice, but we can't always get what we want.
The idea of Elliot Anderson coming back to haunt us was always a real possibility, but to do it so soon after being unceremoniously sold to appease a rule that everybody hates, that's going to really sting.
We can already see the uproar if Anderson scores against us and if he is the one who knocks us out of the competition, that will be the touch paper well and truly lit. Fans and even staff at the club are still reeling over having to sell Anderson at all, so for it to come back and bite us would be too much to handle.
We must think positively. That's not going to happen!
Thankfully, there's a very good chance that Newcastle will have too much for Forest and they will get through to the next round - provided Eddie Howe fields a strong side, of course.
