Ending months of speculation, Mohamed Salah has put pen to paper on a contract extension at Liverpool, which many Newcastle United fans may have been seeing as a good thing.

Now that Liverpool's top scorer has committed to another couple of years at the club, that surely means they won't be as desperate to land Alexander Isak as many reports have suggested.

We had to endure months of stories linking Isak to Arsenal and just as we managed to make those stories go away, the talk about Isak going to Liverpool started.

If anything, the Liverpool fans are just as convinced that they can take Isak away from Newcastle as Arsenal fans were.

Alexander Isak has made history with Newcastle United

Graeme Bailey says Liverpool believe Mo Salah's new contract could be what draws Isak to Anfield

It seems that Liverpool haven't given up on their dreams either as journalist Graeme Bailey has told The Boot Room that they could even see Salah's commitment as a lure for Isak.

They reportedly believe that Salah and Virgil van Dijk signing new deals could show Alexander Isak that they mean business and are set to continue fighting for trophies.

All this really means for Newcastle right now is that we're going to have to endure more speculation surrounding our biggest star.

We aren't even close to panicking over the future of Alexander Isak

The fact remains that no club could afford Isak. Newcastle can already pretty much name their price with the forward contracted to 2028 as things stand already, they have a hefty sell-on fee to consider when naming a price too which will push his value up even further, and there's the fact the club has been told by the Chairman of the PIF to resist all offers.

Our only worry is that should Newcastle fail to secure Champions League football this season, he could start agitating for a move, but the Magpies are in the driving seat for that goal.

Isak has lifted a trophy with Newcastle already and he gets to play in front of what is arguably the best midfield trio in the Premier League.

We still have a lot of confidence that Isak will not only be a Newcastle United player next season, but he will have penned a new deal at the club which will be a huge statement to rival clubs.
