Following Newcastle United's 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace on Wednesday. Toon boss Eddie Howe admitted that Tino Livramento is still described as "high risk".

A second-half Jean-Philippe Mateta brace was enough to ensure the Eagles took all three points. It was a disappointing display from an unchanged Newcastle side that were exceptional against Spurs just 10 days prior.

The Magpies had a torrid time in front of goal, only registering two shots on target with the first coming in the 87th minute.

This was the second lowest of the season, the lowest was just one against Manchester City in August.

Tino is still struggling with an ankle issue

The 21-year-old fullback Livramento has been named on the bench for the last two games but did not appear in either.

Following last night's defeat, Howe admitted that Livramento was only on the bench in case of an emergency.

He is still struggling with the ankle injury he sustained against West Ham on March 30. Howe described him as "high risk".

"He was really there for an emergency. Howe said.

"We have been training with twelve or thirteen players these last 10 days."

On whether Tino will play on Saturday against Sheffield United, Howe said: "I'm not sure.

"As we certainly don't want to give him a longer-term problem.

"He is technically fit enough to play but sort of a high risk."

Newcastle's injury list is as bad as ever

Including Tino, Howe was without 10 key Newcastle players last night.

Nick Pope, Matt Targett, Sven Botman, Sandro Tonali, Joelintion, Kieran Trippier, Miguel Almiron, Joe Willock and Lewis Miley were all missing last night due to injury or suspension.

This felt inevitable, last season there was no real struggle with injuries but Howe admitting that most of the squad was not 100% at the end last season it felt like we were due some bad luck.
