It has been coming for a while but Fabrizio Romano has upgraded his recent "Here we go soon" to a fully-fledged "Here we go" for Newcastle United's first signing of the summer.

Lloyd Kelly's move from Bournemouth to Newcastle is all agreed subject to completing his medical.

The versatile centre-back has been keen to link up once again with Eddie Howe after the 46-year-old signed him for Bournemouth back in 2019.

From what we can gather, this move, unlike the failed attempt at signing Tosin Adarabioyo, never looked in danger.

Lloyd Kelly will sign a four-year contract at Newcastle

Even Fabrizio Romano confirmed on social media that Kelly only had eyes for Newcastle this summer.

"Newcastle have completed verbal agreement to sign Lloyd Kelly as free agent from Bournemouth, here we go confirmed!

"It's done and sealed with medical to follow for Kelly as Newcastle player, never been in doubt.

"Exclusive detail: contract to be valid until June 2028."

Newcastle saw off approaches from Atletico Madrid and Roma

Romano added a bit of extra detail with his post on Instagram.

"Despite links with Atlético and Roma, Kelly was only gonna join Newcastle as pact was made weeks ago."

Kelly's contract at Bournemouth doesn't expire until the end of June so we expect we'll not hear much else between now and 1st July unless something goes wrong with the medial.
