Here are some giggles to sprinkle on your Sunday dinner as Spanish outlet reports craziest NUFC transfer story

We have mentioned before how Newcastle United have often been the subject of some crazy transfer stories and how after the PIF-backed takeover the Magpies were linked with anybody and everybody.

That has died down significantly as media outlets have got used to the reality that PSR will prevent Newcastle from going too wild in the transfer market.

However, there's one outlet that is infamous in the football writing world, and yet, semi-respected outlets still cite them as a source and go along with their madness.

I'm talking, of course, about Fichajes. The Spanish outlet seemingly uses a random generator in Microsoft Excel to come up with a player and a club, and they write a story linking the two, as there can't be any truth in half of the stuff they churn out.

Sergio Ramos to Newcastle? Howay man!

Newcastle are now looking to plug the Marc Guehi gap with a free agent

Usually, we just roll our eyes and move on when we see that a report has used Fichajes as a source, but every so often, they are just too amusing not to share.

For the avoidance of doubt here, we are saying that we believe precisely nothing about this transfer story and we'd be shocked, stunned, amazed, baffled and other words meaning the same thing if it were to come off.

Fichajes reckons that Newcastle will turn to Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos to fill the gap left by the club's inability to bag Marc Guehi in the summer.

How anyone can use Fichajes as a source with a straight face is beyond me

The report suggests that the Magpies are willing to offer the 38-year-old (not a typo) £105,000-a-week (not a typo) on an 18-month contract (not a typo).

So apparently, Newcastle, whose whole transfer ethos is to find young talent to develop, are now looking at a 38-year-old free agent defender to offer him a contract until he is 40, and for his trouble, are set to make him one of the club's highest earners.

I'd love to spend a day in the Fichajes offices, I bet it's a right laugh ... but I don't speak Spanish.
