Last summer Newcastle United forked out £5.8million to sign a potential star who has yet to play in black and white but has fans purring.

Yankuba Minteh signed on loan for Feyenoord immediately after signing this Newcastle contract, which he did in Holland, and as such didn't even come to England until the winter while he was injured.

The Gambian winger has had one of the most successful loan spells a Newcastle player has had in a long time. At the weekend he hit double figures in the Eredivisie scoring his 10th league goal to go along with the one he bagged in the Champions League against Celtic.

Minteh didn't hit the ground running at Feyenoord but under the watchful eye of Liverpool-bound gaffer Arne Slot, he developed into a top player and a regular starter.

Minteh will be given his chance to impress Eddie Howe during pre-season

Minteh was sent off in the KNVB Cup final

Minteh played in the KNVB cup final which Feyenoord won, although he was sent off with a third of the game remaining after picking up two yellow cards in the space of a couple of minutes.

His exploits in Holland have been closely monitored by the Toon Army with fans excited to get their first proper look at him and hoping he will be involved in Eddie Howe's squad next season.

While that is still up in the air, Eddie Howe has confirmed that he will be taking a closer look at his £5.8million signing from OB Odense over the summer.

Feyenoord are keen to loan Minteh again next season

Howe told NewcastleWorld that he plans to bring Minteh into his pre-season plans before making the call on what to do with him next.

“The plan, at the moment, is he will come back to us in pre-season and we'll take it from there.”

That means it's up to Minteh what happens next. If he can impress Howe over the summer he might just earn a spot in the Newcastle squad next season, although Feyenoord are likely to be waiting with their noses pressed against the door should the decision be made to loan him out again.
