'He has to find solutions': Eddie Howe says misfiring Newcastle United striker must find new ways to impact games as dry spell continues
Newcastle United must find ways to create and, more importantly, finish chances this season, as goals have been hard to come by in so many games.
Despite spending £124 million on new attacking talent in the summer, not to mention the £55 million spent on Anthony Elanga to support that attack, goals have been as rare as hen's teeth of late.
There's a massive issue with confidence amongst the forwards this season, with only Harvey Barnes rising to the occasion.
Nick Woltemade made a great start to life in the Premier League after being thrown into the starting lineup much earlier than planned, but opposition teams seem to have him sussed already.
Eddie Howe has challenged Nick Woltemade to find new ways to play
This hasn't gone unnoticed by Eddie Howe, who spoke to the media this morning ahead of Brentford's visit to St James' Park tomorrow.
“I agree with the sentiments. He is young - new league - he started so well, everyone expected that to continue. He’s still getting to grips with the challenges of the Premier League - the speed, intensity and physicality.
“And teams are getting to know him - he has to find solutions the other way. There’s work for him to do but he’s done everything with such a great attitude in such a great way which means he will continue to be successful.”
Yoane Wissa will probably get the nod over Nick Woltemade tomorrow
We expect Eddie Howe to lead with Yoane Wissa tomorrow against his old club after Woltemade started against Manchester City and was largely ineffectual.
If we can get Wissa to hold the line and stay onside, he can cause Brentford some real problems, although you'd imagine their defence will be well versed in his tricks.
Nick Woltemade will play a part, probably coming onto the field between 60-70 minutes. I know, I must be psychic, right?
