Lewis Hall impressed on his England debut in Athens last night looking rock solid in defence and supporting the attack when needed.
This time last year Newcastle United fans were wondering if Eddie Howe had something against the former Chelsea man as his season-long loan saw him left on the sidelines more often than not.
Indeed, in four of his first starts for Newcastle, he was hooked at half-time adding fuel to the fire that Howe was trying to avoid triggering the obligation to buy at the end of the season.
As it turned out, the obligation was triggered by Newcastle's league position and had nothing to do with Hall himself, and the £28 million transfer was finalised in the summer.
By the time the summer came around, Lewis Hall had been handed a run in the side and was showing a marked improvement in his defensive play from when he first arrived, proving Eddie Howe's cautious approach to be the right now.
Now Hall has made himself undroppable at Newcastle and will now be looking to do the same at international level after an impressive 45 minutes for the Three Lions last night.
After the game, Hall said he was 'lost for words' after making his England bow.
On Instagram, Lewis Hall received a personal shout-out from England captain Harry Kane.
“What a shift from all the boys! Massive win to have the group in our hands. Congrats @lewishall_10 (Lewis Hall), @morgzzz11 (Morgan Rogers) and @curtisjr (Curtis Jones) on your debuts.”
Hopefully, Tino Livramento will be getting his own little social media shout-out from Kane on Sunday. DO IT, LEE!
