This morning, Newcastle United confirmed their first official signing of the summer, albeit one that isn't 100% complete.

As we already knew, Malaga's teenage sensation, Antonio Cordero aka Antonito rejected advances from Barcelona and Real Madrid to join Newcastle United when his Malaga contract expires at the end of this month.

The news didn't go down well with his old club's fanbase as they knew what a special player they had on their hands, but a move to the Premier League proved to be too appealing.

Newcastle announced Antonito's arrival this morning via the official site, confirming that the 18-year-old will officially become a Newcastle United player on the 1st July.

Antonito can't wait to get going at Newcastle United

Antonito have his first interview to the official site, explaining his decision to choose a move to Newcastle.

"It's truly an honour to be here, truly a pleasure. I am a person who likes to aspire high. Why not come to one of the best places in the world to do it.

"It's a big step, and that's one of the reasons I'm here. I'm happy to do it and have a great desire to get going already."

Antonio Cordero will be sent out on loan next season

Meanwhile, outbound sporting director Paul Mitchell outlined the plan for Antonito next season.

"Antonio is an exciting talent. We're delighted to bring him to Newcastle United amidst interest in Spain and across Europe.

"He has lots of potential, and the next phase of his development will be for the club to select a loan move that will challenge him and build on his experiences."

Let's hope we find better clubs for him than we did for poor Garang Kuol whose loan moves hindered his development rather than helping it.
