Newcastle United have had a bit of bad luck in terms of injuries at the start of this season, with some key players being struck down for several weeks at a time.

Yoane Wissa's knee injury before he'd even trained with the squad was particularly annoying, but then Jacob Ramsey picked up a knock on his second appearance for the club.

Tino Livramento was injured in the game against Arsenal and is facing several weeks on the sidelines, and that goes hand in hand with fellow full-back Lewis Hall's stop-start return to the side following his long layoff last season.

The £28m signing from Chelsea was just starting to get back up to speed when he pulled up with a hamstring injury, which was set to keep him out of action for six to eight weeks.

Lewis hall is on the road to recovery

Lewis Hall could be back before the next international break

The initial scan on Hall's injury didn't sound like great news, but a second scan has been received more positively, and Eddie Howe confirmed as much this morning when speaking to the media ahead of tomorrow's trip to Brighton.

"The second scan was good news. There was different scales of time he could be out and it was the shorter time. We hope he will be back before the next international break. From the first scan that might not have been possible so it's good news."

Having Hall back before the next international break is a huge bonus, as it was originally looking like it would be a longer absence.

Players are coming back soon

Jacob Ramsey is expected to be back with the squad for the weekend after being given a bit of extra time to recover.

Yoane Wissa is back on the grass and has finally trained with the squad, but he's still a few weeks away from being ready, with early November a soft target for his return.

That leaves Tino Livramento, who, it looks like, may have to wait until after the next international break to make his return to action.
