Newcastle United are in Premier League action on Tuesday night in a Sky Sports-televised 7:30 pm kick-off against Burnley at Turf Moor.

Eddie Howe still has a host of injuries to contend with, but does have Nick Pope back in contention.

Given what he said about Pope after Boxing Day's defeat to Manchester United, it started like he was expecting Pope to start that game, but the former Burnley man was ill, and therefore, we expect he'll be between the sticks against his old club on Tuesday.

The other change we expect Howe to make is up top. While Howe says Yoane Wissa isn't ready to start regularly, we do expect him to start games sporadically, and we think this will be one where he's in the team from kick-off.

Two changes for the Toon

Goalkeeper

Nick Pope - Aaron Ramsdale hasn't kept a clean sheet in Pope's absence, which will make this call easier for Howe.

Defenders

Lewis Miley - Tino Livramento and Kieran Trippier remain absent, so the midfielder will continue in this unfamiliar role.

Malick Thiaw - The German hasn't been as good of late as we know he can be. Hopefully, he can rediscover his form.

Fabian Schar - We're still without Dan Burn and Sven Botman, which gives the Swiss defender more opportunities to convince Ross Wilson he deserves a new deal.

Lewis Hall - Probably our best player right now. An absolute gem.

Midfielders

Bruno Guimaraes (c) - We're hoping for a big captain's performance from the Brazilian. We're due one.

Sandro Tonali - We're due something similar from the Italian, too.

Jacob Ramsey - The former Aston Villa man seems to be preferred to Joelinton lately, and we expect that will continue on Tuesday.

Forwards

Jacob Murphy - We feel like Murphy is being wasted. He's putting some great balls into the right areas, but there's nobody attacking them.

Yoane Wissa - Which is why we're going with Wissa. He seems more naturally inclined to attack the type of crosses Murphy puts in.

Anthony Gordon - What is going on with him this season? Even when he's clearly trying, he's miles off what we all know he can do. But Eddie Howe loves him, so he'll start.

The bench will once again be fairly weak, but it will contain the likes of Joelinton, Nick Woltemade and Harvey Barnes, so there will be options available to Howe if needed.
