Newcastle United have been put on alert after a striker they were heavily linked with in January has signalled his intent to move on this summer.

After walking away from a deal with Everton for Dominic Calvert-Lewin yesterday, Newcastle find themselves back in the transfer market for a striker.

Callum Wilson's future at Newcastle is looking more uncertain by the day and the Magpies already needed one forward through the door before even contemplating letting Wilson leave, so it's about to become a costly summer for Eddie Howe.

However, one striker Newcastle had on their radar in January has now reportedly told his club he wants to move this summer.

Serhou Guirassy could be on the move this summer

Newcastle were keen on Serhou Guirassy in January

Leading up to the January transfer window Newcastle were constantly linked with Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy who had rocketed to the top of the Bundesliga goal-scoring charts with 14 goals in his first eight games, ultimately ending this season with 28 goals in 28 appearances.

Now The Chronicle has claimed that Guirassy has told Stuttgart that he intends to find a new club this summer which will no doubt have given Newcastle, and several other clubs plenty to think about.

The 29-year-old was valued at £20million when he was linked at the turn of the year with a £15million release clause in play, but we dare say Stuttgart will want more than that after his goal-scoring exploits last season.

Serhou Guirassy will be a cheaper alternative to Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Guirassy could end up being a cheaper alternative to Calvert-Lewin after Everton were asking for £40million for the 27-year-old.

We're not sure if the £15million release clause is still active, he'll surely cost less than £40million.

Should Wilson leave, Eddie Howe will need to find two strikers this summer, so at least one will have to be cost-effective which Guirassy could end up being.
