18-year-old forward Garang Kuol's loan move to FC Volendam of the Dutch Eredivisie has finally been confirmed by both clubs, though his work permit is still being processed.

The Australian international will spend the entirety of the 2023/24 campaign at the Kras Stadion and will be hoping to have a much better experience there than he did at Tynecastle in the second half of last season.

The young forward has followed colleague Yankuba Minteh to the Eredivisie, with the Gambian already on loan at Feyenoord and impressing manager Arne Slot in pre-season.

Kuol will hope to make a similarly strong impression on his new manager Matthias Kohler, who has an excellent reputation for developing young players and is just 32 years old himself.

Volendam finished 14th in the Eredivisie last season. They will be hoping Kuol can help them avoid a relegation battle this time around, with the former Central Coast Mariners star expected to get plenty of minutes.

The Dutch club's technical director Jasper van Leeuwen seemed very pleased with the capture of Kuol, commenting on Volendam's official website:

"Garang has been high on our list for some time, and now was the moment we could find a good arrangement with Newcastle.

He is a highly talented forward who can play in multiple positions and can add things to our game. His depth and directness towards the goal are assets that we can make good use of.

Garang is technically skilled and fast, and also has an eye for his teammates. All in all, we are very pleased with his arrival and look forward to another great development journey."

All the best in the Netherlands, Garang!
