France legend says Marseille can beat 'disastrous' Newcastle United in Champions League this evening
Newcastle United's away form in the Premier League has been shocking this season, but the one game they've played on the road in the Champions League resulted in a 4-0 win for the Magpies.
Tonight's game in Marseille is a big test for Eddie Howe's men, coming off the back of such an impressive win over Manchester City on Saturday.
Newcastle will be hoping for another win on the road tonight to set them up to do the same on Saturday night when they step out at the Hill Dickinson Stadium for the first time.
Marseille will not be pushovers tonight by any means, and if the team are as hostile as the fans, it's going to be a tough night for the Magpies.
Christophe Dugarry believes Marseille can beat Newcastle tonight
Former France striker Christophe Dugarry is backing the Ligue 1 high-fliers to pick up the win tonight, citing Newcastle's away form as a huge factor. RMC Sport covered comments Dugarry made on the Rothens' Enflamme show.
“This match will help me further my assessment of De Zerbi.
“Newcastle is a good team, but they’re only the 15th best away team in the Premier League. There are two Newcastles, the one at home and the one away, which is disastrous.
“Are OM capable of beating Newcastle? I say yes. In my mind, Marseille are equipped to beat Newcastle. We must have that as our objective.”
Eddie Howe's team selection is vital tonight
Either side is certainly capable of winning tonight, and for us, it will hugely depend on what starting lineup Eddie Howe goes with.
If he feels Lewis Hall and Tino Livramento are fit enough to start, that massively swings things in our favour, but if he changes things around, then it could go either way.
It won't be long before we find out what team Howe has gone with, so fingers crossed the two young full-backs' names are on that team sheet.
