Forward linked with £55m move to Newcastle United handed new contract by club despite only signing current deal in July
Newcastle United had many transfer targets in mind this summer when it came to finding someone to put the ball in the net for them after what looked to be, and proved to be, the inevitable departure of Alexander Isak.
Eddie Howe knew he needed firepower this summer, and that was the club's main aim for much of the transfer window, ultimately leaving it very late to bring in Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa.
Before that, Newcastle had missed out on several targets who ended up going elsewhere, but there was one player whom Newcastle pursued hard at the end of the window who ended up staying put.
Despite having only signed on a permanent basis at the start of the window, Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Jorgen Strand Larsen was very keen on a move to Tyneside, according to reports.
Jorgen Strand Larsen has penned a new deal at Wolves already
However, Wolves dug in and told the player he wasn't leaving, and now that he has stayed, the club has seen fit to thank him with a new contract despite his current one only being a couple of months old, according to Keith Downie on X.

Jorgen Strand Larsen didn't kick up a fuss when his move wasn't granted
Strand Larsen was actually praised for his conduct over the summer, given that he had made it clear to Wolves that he'd like the opportunity to speak to Newcastle.
When that request wasn't granted, the Norwegian just got on with his job rather than spitting his dummy out and causing a scene like some other forwards involved with the Magpies.
Fair play to Strand Larsen. We hope he has a successful career at Wolves; they seem to be a good fit.
