Former Newcastle United youth prospect Elias Sorensen is set for a return to England after saying goodbye to his team-mates.
The 24-year-old is set to sign for newly promoted Sky Bet Championship side Portsmouth for a fee reported to be around £250,000-350,000.
Sorensen spent the last three years at Danish side Esbjerg where he recently helped the side win the Danish 2nd Division title.
He was also named as the division's player of the year whilst picking up the top scorer award.
Sorensen joined the Magpies in 2016 from HB Køge but failed to make an appearance for the first team.
He was a prominent figure in Newcastle's youth setup during his time at the club, scoring 16 goals in 35 games for the under-18s and 17 goals in 31 games for the under-23s.
Despite his good form, he was never able to break into Newcastle's squad despite being overseen by three separate managers.
Sorensen was loaned out to Blackpool, Carlisle United and Almere City before leaving to Esbjerg where he has scored 37 goals in 77 league appearances.
Another former Newcastle United star, Matt Ritchie is also looking set to join Pompey following his release from the Magpies earlier this summer.
The 34-year-old is keen on making a return down south to be closer to his family in Gosport.
Ritchie made 215 appearances for Newcastle before his release.
