Thanks to having plenty of patience in the transfer market and a successful season, Newcastle United can loosen the purse strings this summer and bring some new blood to the club in the transfer window.

Just as importantly, though, the club aren't in a position where they will be forced to sell players like they were last year.

Newcastle sold promising young stars Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson last summer to fill a £70 million gap in the accounts to avoid a points deduction for breaching PSR. At one point, selling Anthony Gordon was even discussed as things were getting desperate.

Thankfully, there are no such issues this year, and in fact, the Magpies have been urged to keep hold of their star players by Yasir Al-Rumayyan. In particular, he has told the board to resist any approaches for Alexander Isak.

Yohan 'Dreamboat' Cabaye urges Newcastle to keep hold of Alexander Isak

Yohan Cabaye has told Newcastle to reject PSG's advances for Alexander Isak

One club who have been linked with a move for Isak is Paris Saint-Germain, where former Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye now works as a sports coordinator for the youth team.

Cabaye has been speaking about Newcastle and their summer window, particularly the importance of keeping hold of their stars (via The Chronicle), and in doing so has heaped praise on three of Eddie Howe's top men.

"Isak is probably the ideal signing as a striker, but it would be a huge blow for Newcastle to lose him.

"I think it’s going to be difficult for Arsenal to sign him, because Newcastle will do everything they can to keep him, and I think they have to do everything they can to keep him. But definitely, it would be a fantastic coup for Arsenal if they sign Isak.

"It would be a huge blow (if Newcastle lost him). It will be difficult for Arsenal to sign him because I think that Newcastle will do everything to keep him or in my opinion must do everything to keep him."

"It would be a big loss for Newcastle United to lose either of Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes. Isak’s important because he scores so many goals. Bruno, too, as we’ve seen recently and throughout the season, can be a goal threat too.

"I hope they keep both of them because the ambition of the project is clear, and they will have the Champions League again next season, almost certainly.

"Sandro Tonali is also linked with a move away, but I’m not sure if Newcastle have to sell someone. I know that every club has to take into account issues of money, but I’m not sure the club will need to sell anyone.

"Tonali, too, is a really good player, really important. Maybe he’ll want to return to his country at some point, but if they keep all these players for next season, it’s a really positive step."

Cabaye might get called into HR when he gets back to the office

It seems Cabaye has been watching a lot of Sky Sports this season, given their relentless obsession with Arsenal signing Alexander Isak.

We just love that even though Cabaye works for PSG, he's urging Newcastle to rebuff their advances for Isak. The Toon still lives in his heart.

If only it had lived in his heart more strongly when he was here, then maybe he wouldn't have left us. Those were sad times.
