German manager Thomas Tuchel is the latest man to try and end England's trophy drought after being formally announced as Gareth Southgate's permanent replacement.

Eyebrows have been raised at the appointment as The FA had often spoken about hiring English managers for the top job and 'promoting from within'.

Therefore a few pundits have had their say on the matter with former Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce, himself a former England manager (ish) has made his feelings clear in a recent interview with TalkSPORT.

Allardyce was England boss for one game and was quickly sacked after being filmed discussing how to circumvent transfer rules.

Sam Allardyce is fuming that England have appointed a foreigner

However, despite that, Allardyce has still deemed his opinion relevant and he's launched an attack on The FA and then dropped Eddie Howe's name as the top contender for the job.

“England is one of the best jobs you can get, you can’t deny that if you’re an Englishman. The FA have gone against all of what they’re doing in terms of developing their own from within. For me, that could’ve been Lee Carsley.

“If not, they could’ve gone all out for Eddie Howe. You have a quality squad. The problem is the Premier League nullifies the development of English coaches because it’s so hard to get in there. It is very disappointing that we’ve gone down this road.

“This short-term route instead of development from Gareth onwards. I would’ve picked Eddie Howe, if you’re paying £6million per year.”

Can't we wait until England have at least played a game before we decide he's wrong for the job?

Allardyce is clearly choosing to ignore the fact that Lee Carsley seemed to be out of his depth and Eddie Howe had spoken many times about not wanting the job.

Tuchel has literally had the job for five minutes and we have people claiming he's the wrong appointment.

Can't we wait until next month's pointless fixtures before we make an assessment on the guy?
