There has been a rumour doing the rounds on X in the last 24 hours that Newcastle United had suffered yet another first-team injury setback.

Fans were worried that Callum Wilson was back in the treatment room with a hamstring injury so soon after making a goal-scoring return to the side.

Wilson has scored two goals in three appearances after recovering from his latest injury, but after an online event in which he was set to participate was cancelled at the last minute yesterday, speculation began to fly around the Twittersphere (Xshphere?) that Wilson was out of commission again.

It would have been a huge blow to the forward who is hoping to play his way back into Gareth Southgate's England squad ahead of this summer's European Championships.

Wilson was featured but there was no sign of Trippier

Thankfully it wasn't long before the rumour was disproven thanks to the club's weekly training gallery in which Callum Wilson is the first image in the gallery.

We also get another sighting of Nick Pope who made it back to the match day squad on Saturday, but only on the bench. We expect he will start against Brighton this weekend.

One player who we thought would be back to face the Seagulls and wasn't seen in this week's collection of photos is Kieran Trippier.

Two of Newcastle's youngsters continue to train with the first team

Trippier has been in Dubai doing a spot of recovery training and was expected to play a part in Newcastle's final three games, but he's either not back in training yet, or the club are deliberately keeping him out of gallery, which they do often tend to do.

Once again Joe White and Alex Murphy can be seen in training with the first team as they look likely to continue their duty of providing cover from the bench.

We will have to wait and see on Kieran Trippier but he is certainly taking his sweet time in returning from this latest knock.
