Dreams are good. It's nice to have a dream. Newcastle United clearly have dreams because they must be dreaming if they think they can pull this off.

It's not new information that Newcastle have been keeping an eye on Paris Saint-German forward Xavi Simons. Newcastle were credited with an interest last year and remain interested again this year.

In fact, Fabrizio Romano has said on his YouTube channel that the Magpies have made enquiries in the past few days over the availability of Simons.

The Dutch winger looked very lively at Euro 2024 especially as he hit that wonder-goal past Jordan Pickford to give the Netherlands an early lead in the semi-final against England.

Simons has already turned down two Premier League sides

Despite being on the books at PSG since 2023, the 21-year-old has still not made a competitive appearance for the French side spending his first season at the club on loan at RB Leipzig.

It has been heavily suggested that another loan move lies in Simons' future with Barcelona his likely destination. In fact, the player that Spain star Dani Olmo hailed as 'amazing', has reportedly already turned down Arsenal and Liverpool this summer.

If that's the case, then we unfortunately can't see a world in which Simons turns down Arsenal, Liverpool and Barcelona for a season with no European football at Newcastle.

Romano claims Newcastle made contact in recent days over Xavi Simons

However, Fabrizio Romano claims that's not putting the Magpies off at least trying, claiming that contact has been made very recently.

“Let me tell you that another club that asked for example for information on Xavi Simons was Newcastle to understand the situation of the player, but again was few days ago, not months ago.

“And this is why Leipzig and Bayern remain the two favourites.”

Never say never, I suppose, but nah. This isn't happening.
