Newcastle United gave a good account of themselves at St James' Park last night as they got their Champions League campaign underway against Barcelona.

The Magpies had the better chances in the first half, with the general feeling after the game being that Newcastle would have won the game had they started with a recognised striker up top.

Regardless, Newcastle, despite the defeat, can feel pretty proud of what they achieved last night, but it didn't come without a cost.

Newcastle centre-back Fabian Schar picked up his second concussion of the season after he was hit full in the face by a Marcus Rashford shot in the second half.

It was a pivotal moment in the game as it turned out, as Schar failed to challenge Rashford moments later as the Manchester United loanee powered home a header to break the deadlock.

A few moments later, Schar was sitting on the field, clearly feeling the effects of the blow minutes earlier.

Taking to social media on Friday, Fabian Schar reflected on the game and also said that he'd be missing a few games.

There wasn't a lot of context, but given that concussion protocols mean a player can't play for six days, Schar's post suggests there could be more to it.

Disappointed not to have got more from the game but plenty more points to pick up this campaign! Unfortunately I am gonna miss a few games but hope to be back soon 🙏🏽

@worflags, unbelievable as always 🏁

Whether it's more a case of this being his second head injury in such a short space of time, they have to give him more time; we don't yet know.

Also, top marks to Fabi for shouting out Wor Flags.
