Newcastle United have been working on finding temporary homes for some younger players on deadline day, with news of one such move coming late in the window.

It was expected that Trevan Sanusi and Harrison Ashby were likely to leave on loan this season after seeing Garang Kuol move to Sparta Prague on a permanent basis.

We've yet to hear if a new club was found for Harrison Ashby, but it looks as though Trevan Sanusi has secured his first loan move away from Newcastle since his arrival from Birmingham City.

The tricky winger looks set to move to France, according to the Shields Gazette.

Trevan Sanusi is off to La France

Trevan Sanusi has impressed since arriving at Newcastle as a 16-year-old

Sanusi is heading to Ligue 1 newcomers Lorient for the season as the 18-year-old hopes to get some competitive first-team football under his belt.

Trevan Sanusi has featured for Newcastle in pre-season friendlies, wowing the Toon Army last year with his performances, which led to him making his debut against Bromley in the FA Cup.

He has continued to develop in the academy but it's time that he went out in search of more high-level competitive games, as Eddie Howe has him marked as one for the future.

Newcastle will insert a break clause in Sanusi's loan deal

Newcastle will insert a break clause in the contract that will allow Newcastle to recall Sanusi in January if they feel it's in their best interest.

Meanwhile, the Gazette hasn't ruled out a move for Harrison Ashby, even at this late stage.

We'll probably have to wait until later on tonight or even early in the morning for full confirmation of all of today's comings and goings.
