One thing that was abundantly clear last season at Newcastle United was that Eddie Howe did not believe Will Osula was ready for life in the starting lineup.

As Callum Wilson sat out most of the season through injury, that left Eddie Howe with just new signing Will Osula as a like-for-like replacement for Alexander Isak.

However, whenever Isak was unavailable, Howe would often resort to playing Anthony Gordon as a makeshift striker rather than handing an opportunity to Osula.

It was no doubt frustrating for the young Danish striker, but it's a tried and tested approach that worked with Anthony Gordon and Lewis Hall.

Will Osula has begged for more minutes next season

It seems that the frustration has boiled over into a desire to prove to Eddie Howe that he's ready, with Osula having bagged three goals and provided one assist in two appearances for Denmark at the U21 European Championships.

Indeed, the striker told Danish outlet Bold, that he hopes he is given more minutes next season to prove to Eddie Howe that he's ready.

“I just need playing time to show what I can do. It means something to me. I already know… Only myself and my father know what I can do. When playing time comes, everyone will see what I can do on the pitch.”

We're excited to see what's to come from Will Osula

Newcastle fans have taken a shine to Osula for his off-the-pitch antics, but many fans have also seen glimpses of what the striker can do.

Osula is also being trained to operate down the right flank, and early signs indicate that he has what it takes to be a successful winger, too.

We're excited to see what's to come from Osula. He has the pace, the power and an eye for goal, he really just needs to hone his focus and decision-making.
