Everton pulled off a shock 1-0 win at Old Trafford on Monday night ahead of this weekend's clash with Newcastle United at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Beating Manchester United isn't as much of an achievement these days, but Everton decided to give themselves more of a challenge.

After some poor defending, which allowed Bruno Fernandes to get away with a rasping shot at Jordan Pickford's goal, Michael Keane and Idrissa Gana Gueye had some choice words.

The two teammates got into a bit of a shoving match, and Gueye took things a step too far by slapping his cohort around the chops.

Idriss Gueye became the fourth Premier League player sent off for an offence on his own teammate

Referee Tony Harrington was left with no choice but to show Gueye a red card for violent conduct, becoming only the fourth player in the Premier League to be sent off for an offence on his own teammate after Ricardo Fuller (Stoke City) and, of course, Kieron Dyer and Lee Bowyer, both playing for Newcastle at the time.

Gueye's red card means he will now miss Saturday's meeting with Newcastle United, which will be welcome news for Eddie Howe.

The Magpies' form on the road in the Premier League has been shocking this season, and Eddie Howe is yet to leave a Premier League ground other than St James' Park with three points, so he'll be happy for any help he can get.

Everton didn't miss Idrissa Gueye last night

The Senegalese midfielder has been solid for Everton this season and has even chipped in with two goals, and he's likely to be missed on Saturday.

That being said, though, Everton didn't seem to miss him last night against Manchester United, going on to score a superb goal via Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and then holding on to that slender lead to halt Ruben Amorin's longest streak without defeat since taking over at Old Trafford.

That guy who isn't cutting his hair until Manchester United win five games in a row is going to look like a frizzy Cousin IT by the time he gets the shears out.
