Newcastle United posted three updates at 1am this morning around the three deals that were in the works as the Profit and Sustainability deadline passed.

The first update was over the move of Elliot Anderson who joined Nottingham Forest on a long-term contract.

It's a deal that reportedly brought in £35million for the club which offsets the bitter taste of selling one of our young stars, and a local lad at that.

That fee puts Anderson alongside Andy Carroll, another academy product, as the highest fee we have received for a player.

The club announced Anderson's departure shortly before 1am this morning

The club put up a post on their official website shortly before 1am to announce the deal and, we know it was late, but the lack of effort that was put in was borderline rude.

There were no quotes from anyone at the club, it was brief, dry and not what you want to see when someone like Elliot Anderson, an academy graduate, a young hope, a Newcastle United fan, leaves the club.

To add insult to injury, the piece still (at the time of writing) has a typo on his name, calling him Ellior. Typos happen, sure, no doubt we've published a fair few ourselves, but there are times you just expect better, you hope they'd take that extra minute or so to proofread what they're putting out.

Anderson never did get his first senior goal for Newcastle

The big kicker about all of this for me, is that Anderson never did bag that first senior goal for the Magpies outside of friendlies. He was prolific in pre-season and we were all expecting him to bag a few last season, but injuries ruined his season and the goal never came.

Nottingham Forest have got themselves a dynamic, battling, creative midfielder and hopefully the use him to his full potential.

We wish Anderson the best of luck at his new club and look forward to him inevitably scoring at the Gallowgate End for Forest next season because it's just bound to happen, isn't it?
