Newcastle United recorded only their second Premier League away win of the season last night, beating Burnley 3-1 at Turf Moor.

After getting into a two-goal lead with just seven minutes on the clock, Newcastle decided that things were obviously going too smoothly, so they switched off for an hour and let Burnley get back into the game.

For whatever reason, this seems to be a trend with the Magpies this season, but they were able to weather the storm and even added a third goal in the dying embers of the game.

There were a few good performances across the pitch, but not everyone seemed to be firing on all cylinders, with Sandro Tonali coming in for a lot of criticism on social media after the match.

Lewis Miley bossing it against Burnley

Eddie Howe was impressed with Lewis Miley again last night

On the opposite side of the scale was Lewis Miley, who continued to thrive playing out of position at right back, and even Eddie Howe made a point of making sure he got his plaudits when speaking to BBC Radio Newcastle last night.

“Lewy Miley, I have to say a special mention to him. He’s playing full-back now and you sort of take for granted his performance levels but I think he’s been outstanding for us.”

I don't know if anyone really takes Miley for granted. We're all very aware of how young he is and how he's playing out of position and that he almost always looks like one of the best players on the pitch.

Lewis Miley for England!

We wouldn't be surprised if Thomas Tuchel isn't keeping a close eye on Miley this season, given how good he's been for Newcastle of late.

Even playing out of position, nothing seems to faze him, and it can be hard to forget that he's still only 19.

When he burst onto the scene, it seemed to be between him and Kobbie Mainoo over who was the new English wonderkid, and owing to his Man United connections Mainoo seemed to win out and beat Miley to that England spot, but where is Mainoo now? It's a marathon, not a sprint, and Miley has the legs.
