Eddie Howe puts out very strong side to take on PSV as Newcastle United continue Champions League campaign

Newcastle United host PSV in the Champions League tonight. Kick-off is at 8 pm live on TNT Sports.

Wor Flags and Newcastle CEO David Hopkinson are hoping that tonight's atmosphere can live up to the occasion to cheer our lads on to booking their place in at least the play-off for the knockout stage of the competition.

Eddie Howe has done all he can in terms of team selection to make that happen tonight, going with what is possibly his strongest available XI.

The one difference Howe has made to the team we predicted is that Kieran Trippier starts again, with Lewis Miley on the bench again, as he was on Sunday.

We can understand this move, though, as Kieran Trippier's experience on a night like this could be vital, and Miley's versatility makes him a good option to have on the bench for later in the game.

Nick Pope keeps his place in the side after a clean sheet on Sunday, and it's the same back four in front of him with Malick Thiaw, Sven Botman and Lewis Hall joining Trippier.

It's the holy trinity in the middle of the park with Howe keeping faith with Sandro Tonali despite his woeful showing on Sunday at Wolves. Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton partner the Italian.

Up front, it's as we expected with Yoane Wissa preferred to Nick Woltemade, flanked by Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes.

Tonight is the night that our big stars need to step up. Anthony Gordon has a lot to prove this season, and so does Sandro Tonali after a recent dip in form.

After tonight, Newcastle's fixture list is pure nightmare fuel, so a good performance and a good result tonight would set us up nicely going into that hellish schedule.
