Newcastle United lost Tino Livramento to injury during the FA Cup victory against Bournemouth earlier this month, which came as a huge blow.

Tino Livramento has been arguably one of Newcastle's most important players this season. He and Lewis Hall massively changed the fortunes of the side when they both started playing regularly.

The former Southampton man has had his fair share of injury problems, so it was a huge concern when he went down against Bournemouth.

News on his injury has been sparse, but it was pretty clear immediately that it wasn't going to be one that he was going to run off in a matter of a few days, with Eddie Howe saying that he would be missing for a while.

Tino Livramento has a comeback date

Eddie Howe expects Tino Livramento to be back in contention in March

The Newcastle gaffer delivered a positive-ish update on Livramento's situation this morning in his pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday's trip to Anfield to face Liverpool.

"He's doing well. I believe he's having a second scan today to see the progress. Fingers crossed it's good news.

"If it is fingers crossed he'll be back running outside. I think we're still probably five to six weeks today. We're looking at an early March return providing everything goes well."

Some thought we'd seen the last of Tino Livramento at Newcastle with this latest injury

It's still another month without a key player, but at least we have a date to look out for now, and it isn't the case that he's going to be missing for the rest of the season.

There are those who fear we may have seen the last of Tino in a Toon shirt, given Manchester City's interest and Livramento's decision to put contract talks on ice until the end of the season.

At least if he's back in action in March, we'll get a few more games out of him before he inevitably leaves us in the summer.
